Where to place your bouquet

Light, heat, fruit, and draughts all influence how quickly cut flowers age.

Where to place your bouquet

Choose a bright room but keep the bouquet out of direct sunlight. A cool table or shelf away from radiators, fireplaces, and air-conditioning vents gives flowers the most stable conditions.

Keep the vase away from ripening fruit, which releases ethylene gas and speeds up ageing. At night, moving the bouquet to a cooler hallway or room can also help, provided the spot is protected from frost and strong draughts.

Quick tips

Indirect light

Let flowers brighten the room without sitting in a hot sunny window.

Avoid fruit

Keep arrangements away from fruit bowls and ripening produce.

Cool nights

A slightly cooler room overnight can slow the ageing of delicate blooms.
