Different flowers fade at different speeds. When a mixed bouquet starts looking tired, take it apart and remove soft stems, fallen leaves, and spent blooms. Wash the vase, recut every healthy stem, and sort the flowers by their remaining height.
Move the survivors into a smaller vase so they support one another. Short stems can become a low table arrangement, while one or two perfect blooms look intentional in a bud vase. Fresh water and a new shape often give the bouquet several more enjoyable days.
Quick tips
Edit firmly
Remove fading material before it affects the water and healthy stems.
Choose a smaller vase
A compact vessel supports stems shortened by repeated trimming.
Split the bouquet
Create several tiny arrangements from the strongest remaining flowers.
